The annual Institute of Management Accountants Salary Survey reports that there is a direct link between professional certification and average compensation.  According the 2008 survey average compensations were as follows:

No certificate $95,974

Certified management accountant (CMA) $125,600

Certified public accountant (CPA) $135,101

Both CMA and CPA $150,349
