Originally established in 1967 as Imperial Plastics and located in Evansville, Indiana, Berry Plastics has grown into a leading manufacturer of injection-molded plastic packaging, thermoformed products, flexible films and tapes and coatings. The company's sales are focused in four divisions:

  • Rigid Open Top

  • Rigid Closed Top

  • Flexible Films

  • Tapes and Coatings

Imperial Plastics became Berry Plastics when it was purchased in 1983 by Jack Berry, Sr., a Florida-based citrus grower and real estate developer. In 1987, Berry opened a second manufacturing facility in Henderson, Nevada. Gilbert Plastics of New Brunswick, New Jersey, a manufacturer of aerosol overcaps, was Berry's first acquisition in 1988. Berry has grown through acquisitions and organic growth.

In 2006, the investment groups, Apollo Management L.P. and Graham Partners, Inc., purchased Berry Plastics Corporation. The management team of Berry Plastics is also a significant investor.
